Regarding the Physical Format on Nintendo Switch 2 – Please Read Carefully

We know many of you would love to have R-Type Dimensions III on a full physical cartridge, especially if you’re purchasing the Special Edition or the Collector’s Edition. We truly appreciate that passion, and we want to be transparent about the situation.

For Nintendo Switch 2 releases, all units of a product line must use the same physical format. Because around 90% of the total production is planned for standard retail distribution (to be sold at €39.99), switching the entire run to cartridges would significantly raise manufacturing costs. This would force us to increase the retail price by at least €15.

To avoid increasing the price by this amount, we chose to release the game on a key card, which is the option that keeps the overall release sustainable. Still, we absolutely understand how important a true cartridge edition is for collectors, and we want you to know that we are continuing to explore ways to offer an alternative solution for the Special and Collectors Edition.
So there is still hope for a real cartridge. We are trying everything, believe us.
